Since the beginning of this project I’ve refused to ask Black men to be soft because I’m still investigating what that means, what would that change? What I am asking is for Black men to check their aggression and not to ignore the many emotions running through our bodies. I believe a soft person or soft spoken man can still cat-call, can still be manipulative. I believe a hetero Black man could wear pink every day and own a florist company and be abusive all at the same time. The convo surrounding fragile masculinity needs an upgrade ASAP. We have to start talking about how we can name the things in order to face them.
