lately I’ve been getting some interesting critiques from Black men on my photo series, some negative, very few constructive. I wonder about the anger being displayed, I wonder if seeing our dehumanization has become our comfort zone? Is that why these images are hard to see?The Black male body representing universal themes can be complicated, though I don’t believe it has be. People (including Black men) aren’t used to it because most of what we see is whiteness equating to universality.
